The Palace

Incredible Food with a Grumpy Manager!

Though our night got off to a bad start, the food (and the bathrooms) made up for it.

The reason we originally booked our reservation at the Palace was because both our favorite entree and favorite dessert from ‘1 Night / 12 Kitchens‘ came from the Palace…at least that’s what we thought. It wasn’t until we arrived that we realized that our favorite dishes were actually from the Orchids at Palm Court (we’ll go there soon!).

Another reason we booked was because Barbara has a postcard that entitled the user to get a $70 gift card for a subsequent visit. Unfortunately, Kyle left the card in Mason. When we explained our situation to the Manager, he informed us that there was a lot of paperwork that needed to be done and the card had to be there the night of the dining. So, before we even ordered, there were 2 strikes against the Palace.

Thankfully the food wasn’t the 3rd strike. Everyone ordered the ‘choose your own’ prix fixe menu. Every item was excellent! For starters, we had a mix of yellowfin tuna (it looks like a pizza in the picture below), beef tartare, squash soup and foie gras. Entrees were beef filet, scallops, braised short ribs, and chicken.

Even though the dessert was different than what drew us in, we still enjoyed. Michael, a known dessert avoider, nearly ate his entire creme brulee. The apple tart was another favorite.

In spite of the excellent food, we vowed never to go back simply because we are so vengeful and don’t ever want to see the grumpy old manager again!
